Review: Creme de la Mer – A miracle come true

by Tavia

Creme de la Mer is where miracles begin. I’m skeptical about miracles sometimes too but this one sounded so good that it must be true. So I decided to try this cream and see the effects on my own skin.

I wrote a preview for this moisturizing cream a few days ago, where I talked about its ingredients (which are all natural), what you should expect of it, the price, how it was made and by who. So, if you are interested in those details please read the preview here.

I’ve been using this cream for more than 6 weeks now, and I figured it’s just about time to make a review. I like to test the creams for a longer period of time, especially the ones who claim to be anti-wrinkle because you have to give them time to adapt with your skin and until you will see the effects it will take a few weeks, depending on the cream.

I’ve been using good creams before this one too (even anti-wrinkles) so I can’t really say that I had a lot of wrinkles, puffiness and dark circles. I always used face and eye creams and I took very good care of my complexion.

I just turned 28 in the beginning of December so I’m qualified for testing anti-wrinkles creams, because I’ve also start using them for over a year now. It is said you should start using anti-wrinkles creams not when you notice your first lines but long before that because you want to prevent their appearance.

First of all I want to let you know that I have an oily type of skin. If you girls have the same you know for sure that it takes special care and you always try to fight shine (at least I do). I have been searching for creams that will be absorbed fast by the skin without leaving my complexion looking oily but I can’t say that I’ve found the perfect one yet.

Creme-de-la-Mer

Creme de la Mer it comes in a jar, which is useful if you want to know how much product you have left inside, but not so hygienic if you think that you will open this jar 2 times a day.  It’s very dense in the beginning but you must know how to work it. Don’t take the cream out of the jar and try to sweep it on your face like you do with a normal cream. Due to its extraordinary formula you must activate the Miracle Broth within and its other key ingredients. So, at first I took just a small amount of  product (was enough for the whole face and eye area) and I warm it between my fingertips. As I was warming the cream between my fingertips I felt how it was changing and become softer and silky. After that I pat it onto my clean dry skin and I instantly felt the soothing effects of the broth.

I like the idea of a cream that can be used for face, eyes and neck in the same time and also can be applied day and night. My skin became softer, smoother and very silky to the touch. In a few days I’ve noticed how my skin texture changed and become more bright, giving me a healthy appearance and a natural look.

Before I start using this cream I had some breakouts that were diminished quickly after using the cream. My skin felt hydrated all the time, and this is very important especially now when it’s winter and temperatures are below 0 degrees. In winter you should try to use more hydrating creams and usually your skin will need a larger amount of cream to feel healthy. So for me I can say this cream is perfect for the winter season.

After a few weeks I’ve noticed that fine lines were diminished and my eye skin area looked younger. I can’t say anything about the dark circles because I never had them. Creme de la Mer contains Vitamin C and E among of other healthy ingredients, but I already told you this in my preview, that I’ve made a few days ago.

Now you are wondering about the bad sides because it can’t be all only milk and honey. 🙂 Well they are some! It doesn’t claim to have SPF so I’ve decided to use it only as a night cream but this was not my only reason. As I told you before I have an oily type of skin so during the day it takes a few hours for the shine to disappear and I don’t like the aspect of a shiny face. I’m sure this will be a great cream for dry and normal types of skin. I can’t say that the oil was leaking down my face and it was not absorbed for hours. NO was not like that. I will give it a second try as a day cream because since yesterday it started snowing and we had bellow 0 degrees temperatures here, so I know even oily skin needs a lot more hydration on this weather.

Except this shine over my face for a couple of hours and the no SPF thing I can’t find another downfalls for this cream but the price. It’s a luxury cream and you must treat it like one so don’t expect to cost the same as a drugstore cream because you will be disappointed. If you buy a 50 ml jar it will be enough for more than 3-4 month I think and you must consider that you are using it for your face, eyes and neck  and you are also using it as a day and night cream.

If you decide to buy it you can consider it as an investment in your skin because it’s only 1 cream that replaces more than 3-4 creams in the same time. The price is justified and I know it’s kind of  in the expensive side but here it is:

  • $130 for 1 oz
  • $230 for 2 oz
  • $1390 for 16.5 oz

You can purchase the cream online or you can find it at select Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and select specialty stores.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this review and please let me know what you think about Creme de la Mer. 🙂
