Hello beauties!

Orly-Explosion-of-Fun-Lacquer-Review

I bought Orly Explosion of Fun nail lacquer last year and I wore it a couple of times but I didn’t get the chance to tell you about it. This fun shade was released as part of Orly Sparkle Holiday 2014 Collection (info, photos) and it’s truly something that you will want to wear on your nails on every special occasion.

Orly Explosion of Fun nail lacquer ($8.50/ 45.00 Lei for 18 ml/ .6 fl oz) is a multi-holographic magenta glitter with blue and purple undertones and tiny flecks of multicolored shimmer. Truly an interesting color, the kind of nail polish that looks glamorous on every nail size and that can be applied over a black or colorful base for a bit of sparkle.

The formula is well balanced, somewhere in the middle between thick and thin but the glitter gave me just a little bit of trouble in the way that it will take a bit of effort apply it evenly. The application went reasonable well, as the polish glided easily across the nails but it tended to pull a little bit due to its slightly jelly formula,. The coverage is buildable up to a medium opacity with a bit of translucency from place to place. I’ve used a base coat on all of my nails and on my left hand nails I also added a top coat to seal the color and make it last longer.

It has an amazingly nice glitter payoff after the second coat but you can still see some empty spots from place to place which makes me recommend this polish to be layered on top of a base. For a fun, glittery look you can pair it with a light pink while for a mysterious, darker and more elegant manicure you can choose to apply it over a black base.

I wore Orly Explosion of Fun nail polish for about 5 days and a half and even though I’m in love with the color I can’t say the formula is long-lasting. It performed well in the first two days but this is the kind of shade that you wan to keep on your nails only for a short them or 2 or 3 days tops. This was only my personal experience, probably it will perform better on other types of nails so if you’ve already tried Orly Explosion of Fun please let me know what do you think of it.
