OPI A-Pierce To Be Tan Nail Lacquer Review, Swatches, Before & After Photos

by Tavia

Hello pretties!

Even though OPI A-Pierce To Be Tan nail lacquer is been in my collection for months now I only got to open it this month. It was part of OPI San Francisco Fall Winter 2013 Collection (info, photos) but I would wear it in any season as neutrals never go out of style.

OPI A-Pierce To Be Tan nail lacquer ($9.50 /€ 14,25  for 15 ml/ 0.5 fl oz) is a chocolate brown creme with a luscious finish. A neutral OPI nail polish like this one would be perfect for a day at the office or as a fall or winter neutral.

The formula of this one was excellent, very well balanced between thick and thin, a liquidy creme that glided easily and effortlessly across the nails without bubbling, streaking or pooling along the edges of the nail. In one coat OPI A-Pierce To Be Tan was rich, fully opaque and had a nice shine while after the second coat the color was more intense with a super luscious shine.

Adding a top coat really didn’t make a difference regarding the shiny finish but as you’ll see in the before and after photos it made a difference after a couple days wear.

I’m not into OPI nail polishes as you might have noticed but from time to time I do review some of them and even though I wouldn’t call A-Pierce To Be Tan my favorite nail polish color I would say I definitely loved the formula and how easily it was applied. It dried down to that gorgeous intense shiny finish in about 5 minutes but considering it is a creme, typing at my laptop left marks such as small lines.

I had 6 days wear with this formula and on my left hand nails where I’ve been wearing top coat the polish looks more mattified and you can easily see those lines due to typing at my laptop. I had a small incident on my index finger, my kitchen knife slipped while I was cutting some parsley but other than that you can see I had very minor tip wear, without chipping and still an intense rich color. Comparing these nails with my right hand nails where I haven’t applied top coat the result is a more visible tip wear (but not chipping) and a mattified color but without those keyboard lines on the nails.
