Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge liquid lipsticks are famous already and they come in a variation of 15 shades, so earlier this year I got me one of their bright pink shades in N0.21 Cool Candy Pink. You know I don’t easily embrace the idea of a lipstick, but a liquid lipstick that is intense, long-lasting and can give me that brilliant shiny finish is something that I can’t pass on. Make Up For Ever Cool Candy Pink Aqua Rouge Liquid Lipstick ($24.00 for 2 x 0.08 oz) is a bright neon pink with blue undertones. It’s a bright, bold color, the kind that will get you noticed and attract attention, and I’m loving just that. It would be ideal for summer especially and looks lovely on fair and light skin tones.
I’m not very fond of the idea of matte lip colors but I had to give it a try for the sake of this gorgeous pink shade, and anyway there’s also the transparent lip gloss if I feel the need for a ultra-shiny finish.
The pink lip color has a velvety semi-matte formula, that glides smoothly and evenly across the lips. Considering it gives a semi-matte finish I would have expected for a dry look of my lips but none of that. The color is very pigmented, opaque color coverage, flawless application without sinking or emphasizing lip lines and not to mention it doesn’t make lips appear dry. I could wear it just like this if I wanted to but I like a glossy finish way too much. The texture is rather thick so you don’t want to pick up too much product for one application. It feels comfortable on the lips, without being sticky or tacky.
The formula also contains high molecular weight polymers and volatile oils so the color is waterproof, smudge-proof and it will not transfer or fade. Now trust me when I say that is really a pain to remove the color if you are thinking or only wearing it briefly for a couple of hours. If you are not set on keeping this color on your lips the entire day then don’t even start applying it. I’m talking about a color that will remain on our lips even after eating and drinking. I thought that after a couple of hours wear my lips will look dry, dehydrated and will start to loose moisture but it wasn’t like that.
For me the second step of applying the clear top coat is a must as it not only gives that juicy ultra-glossy finish but it will also make lips appear fuller and fresh. I absolutely love a true pigmented pink color with a high shine, a gorgeous wet lips effect and when that lasts for hours on end is like a dream come true.
Obviously the glossy finish will wear off in a couple of hours, but the color will still remain so you’ll definitely need to reapply it, which means the glossy lacquer will run out before the lip color.
The lip color comes with a doe-footed applicator while the clear top coat will be applied with a thin brush.
To wipe off the color a simple tissue, make up remover wipe or wash cloth won’t do the trick and I find it extremely difficult to remove it even with an oil based makeup remover. I actually did struggle a bit to remove it with Clinique Take the Day Off Makeup Remover for lids, lashes and lips. The funny thing is that when I wore MUFE Aqua Rouge Cool Candy Pink for the first time, I actually gone to bed while I still had the color of my lips just out of curiosity to see how much longer it will last…well it was there in the morning as well.
MUFE Aqua Rouge is quite an interesting product, very intriguing for me as I’m into pink shades with glossy finish but I never thought that a color could wear so long. It felt lightweight and comfortable on the lips from beginning to end and not for one second I felt my lips dry.
