Yesterday I had the pleasure of getting the new MAC True Love’s Kiss Lipstick which is a limited edition shade part of the already famous MAC Maleficent Collection (color story, promo photos).

MAC True Love’s Kiss Lipstick ($17.50 for 0.10 oz.) is officially described as a clean bright red with an Amplified finish. It’s an intense, medium-dark ruby red with slightly warm undertones and a natural sheen. The color looks so vibrant, elegant and classy and even those with fair skins can make it work.

I’m quite pale and I like to apply this lipstick with a lip brush so it will look softer without hardening my features. Applied right from the tube it’s such a rich and pigmented shade, almost fully opaque on the lips. The formula is a bit unusual for a typical Amplified finish but I surely like this one better as it felt smoother and more emollient while the finish revealed a beautify natural shine that gives lips a fuller effect.

True Love’s Kiss Lipstick is applied smoothly and evenly across the lips, gliding easily without pulling the lips or leaving any lines behind. The consistency felt lightweight and comfortable on the lips and the formula is vanilla-scented unflavored.

I truly believe this is one of those shades that is going to be perfect for people who want to dip their toe in the waters of intense, rich and elegant colors and regardless your skin tone you can make it look wearable on you by applying it softly with a lip brush or straight from the tube for a more intense effect.

The color wore well for 6 hours on me and the formula was neither drying nor hydrating. When I had a full meal the color did seem to fade evenly in the center of the lip but so much that it needed to be retouched.
