MAC Preserving Passion Versicolour Lip Stain Review, Swatches, Photos

by Tavia

Hello cuties!

MAC Preserving Passion Versicolour Lip Stain was a new purchase of mine from the limited edition MAC Versicolour Stain 2016 Summer Collection (info, photos) which unfortunately hit counters in Romania so very late, in the middle of fall. I kinda new and documented myself upon every shade since this collection was released in time internationally and was on the counters in summer. I already told you this season is about trying on new lip colors, something different than my favorite pinks, purples and nudes so MAC Preserving Passion seemed challenging. I already gave you a sneak peek of my recent MAC haul but there’s a new one coming up, that I didn’t had time to photograph yet.

Where to buy:

MAC Preserving Passion Versicolour Lip Stain (103.00 Lei / $24.00 / €23.00 for 8.5 g / 0.28 oz) is officially described as a deep wine. I see it as medium-dark, wine red with cool undertones and a glossy finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage and looking quite pigmented on the lips.

MAC describes versicolour lip stain as a liquid lip color that is something in between lip gloss and stain. So it suppose to have the shine of a gloss and long lasting color of a lip stain. Its texture feels lightweight, creamy and hydrating at the same time and that’s thanks to the emollient oils infused in the formula. It is so comfortable on the lips, gliding on smoothly and evenly, leaving behind a beautiful color.

I didn’t expect a full opacity out of this color but of course I happily applied a second layer to get a more intense color. I’m not very keen on this particular doe-footed applicator as I did like to use a matching color lip pencil to get that perfect cupid bow and line my lips but without a lip pencil the edges of the lips are not quite defined.

I like the glossy finish, as it gives a freshness to my lips and they seem more plumped and vibrant but also the lightweight and jelly-like texture that feels super comfortable.

I’m not very keen on the packaging either, I think it is pretty blunt and simple but at least it’s easy to use and has this transparent see-through tube so you can easily see the color inside and how much product you got left.

I had about eight hour of wear with this color and it left a soft stain behind which got me easily through the day without needing to apply more.

The colour is gorgeous! Although I’m not a fan of MAC, I might consider these. 🙂
