La Prairie Cellular Luxe Lip Colour in Geranium – Review, Photos & Swatches

by Tavia

Hello beauties!

Today I’m going to finally review my all time favorite lipstick La Prairie Cellular Luxe Lip Colour in Geranium. Most of you know me as a lip gloss girl and I can honestly say that I don’t own more than 10 lipsticks from which most of them were received for review purposes. With La Prairie things have always been different for me. I’m a huge fan and customer of their skincare products as I’m sure you’ve noticed from my reviews but since I’ve tried a couple of their makeup items a few years back I’m forever in love with this brand. I know it’s a luxury brand and most of you will probably judge me for this but my sin is that I’ve always liked to indulge in luxury skin care products rather than makeup.

Now @shoplaprairie.com, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue

La Prairie Cellular Luxe Lip Colour in Geranium ($55.00 for 3.5 g/ 0.12 oz) is a beautiful medium rosy pink with a satin finish. Everything about this lipstick is pure luxury starting with the elegant silver mirror-like tube which comes in a dark navy velvet cover to enhance its elegance and make this product not only a simple lipstick but an elegant beauty accessory.

The Lip Colour in Geranium has an exquisite color that complements even my fair skin tone and doesn’t make it look hard on the lips like normal red lipsticks do. I guess its sheen and soft satin finish makes this rosy pink shade just perfect for my lips. It feels so soft, nourishing and moisturizing on the lips even after a few hours of wear. It features firming Caviar Extracts, line-diminishing optical diffusers and a unique Plumping Complex that helps your lips reclaim their youthful lush contours. It never dries my lips and it last for hours without staining or fading completely after I eat or drink. On a normal day I get 6 to 8 hours of wear.

This shade goes well on every skin tone since I had it tested on couple of my friends with different skin colors and they all loved it. Usually I like to make this Geranium color pop by applying a thin coat of a pink or transparent gloss on top of it.  Sometimes I choose to apply on top of Geranium a thin layer of  La Prairie Cellular Lip Colour Effect in Firefly (upcoming review) which is sheer shimmery golden nude, taming the color into a more neutral one with a super glossy finish and a pop of gold.

I’ve been wearing this shade for almost 3 years now and I will keep repurchasing it everytime I get the chance since the only downsize for me is that La Prairie only sells skincare products and perfumes in my country. If you look back trough  my makeup looks you will see that I’ve used this shade frequently in my tutorials and you can see how it looks on top of different color lip liners or underneath my favorite gloss shades.

If you don’t mind spending a little more on a lipstick I will definitely recommend you to try this one as I’m sure you will fall in love with it just like I did. For me this product is also on the expensive side but it’s my go to lipstick that I can rely on through the day without worrying that I need to reapply the color.

This shade is even a surprise for me because I never used to wear this type of shade but with La Prairie is different, it doesn’t hardness my complexion and is not that picky red that looks well only on certain skin colors. This color complements every skin tone, from the fair ones to pales, medium and dark. 🙂
