Kinetics Lemon Zest Nail Polish – Review, Swatches, Long-Lasting Test

by Tavia

Hello sweeties!

Here is Lemon Zest, a new, bright and playful nail polish from Kinetics Ice Cream Spring 2014 Collection (swatches/ photos). The entire collection features 6 nail colors in vibrant shades, each one inspired by a specific type of ice cream. They all dry down to a soft matte finish and the name of each color is very well chosen being true to the nail polish in the bottle.

Kinetics Lemon Zest Nail Polish (€6.00/ 25.00 Lei/ £3.60 for 15 ml/ 0.5 fl oz) is a medium light lemon yellow without any green undertones. The color is very bright and joyful, truly a neon shade suitable for spring resembling the color of a lemon juice. It looks almost opaque in one coat but slightly streaky while the second coat offers a fully opaque coverage with a nice soft matte finish and a beautiful even color.

The formula is between thick and thin, very creamy and applies easily on the nails, looking just a bit streaky in one coat. Kinetics Lemon Zest definitely requires a second coat to even out the color. It does pull a little bit along the edges of the nail but it does not bubble. Considering it’s suppose to have a matte finish I decided to apply Kinetics Matte One Night Top Coat only of my left hand nails so I can compare the results with my other nails a few days later. The top coat ads a satin finish to this color, brightening it a little bit.

It takes only a couple of minutes to dry completely so you can easily do your nails when you are in a hurry and hit the door when you are finish as it will dry very fast. I wore Kinetics Lemon Zest for 3 days and considering it’s a neon yellow with a matte finish it’s not very long lasting. It chipped on the third day, more noticeably on the nails where I didn’t applied top coat but color didn’t fade and lost its intensity.

If you don’t mind re-applying this color every 3 days for a perfect manicure then I say you should give it a try. It’s true that’s not very resistant but as a neon polish it has the advantage that it dries very fast.
