Hair Care Products I’m Curently Using – Quick Review

by Tavia

Hello sweeties!

If last month I posted a quick review of Face Care Products I’m currently using I though I would show you my hair care products. Perhaps you will say there are way to much products but some of them I just finished using last week/ month and I want to mention them because they are great products, others I use from time to time because I’ve changed my hair care routine and some of them I’m using a few times a week.

What you should now about my hair

I need to mention this because even though some of these products did wonders for my hair, they might not work for you. I’m a natural blonde and although it might seem strange for some of you, I’m still wearing my natural color and I never (really, never ever) dyed my hair. I admit sometimes I wanted to try different colors but I gave up knowing that I will have to dye my hair all the time (I really hate when I see roots of different color on other girls) and also because all the stylist I went to recommended me to keep my natural color. Being a natural blonde my hair is very very thin and no hairstyle will resist more than few hours. Even when I go to a hair salon for a coiffure after a few hours (no matter how much hair spray or other fixing products I have on my hair) the result is still the same. My hair will return to its natural state…straight, soft, puffy and just a little bit (only on the left side) wavy. 🙂

For years I’ve been using the flat iron, sometimes even 2 – 3 times a week and last year in November I reached a point where I had to stop destroying my hair. I had very serious hair loss problems, my hair was getting thinner and thinner to a point where it was almost transparent at the ends,  and using some of these products regularly was the reason why I wasn’t bald already. 🙂 But even the best products can’t keep up with the flat iron being used so often. Since November 2011 until now I’ve used it only 2 times and my hair is again healthy, has a vivid color, is thicker and most important it doesn’t fall anymore. 🙂

As you can see I like to use a variety of products from high-end brands to drugstore products. If you are interested in any of these products please write me in the comments  bellow and I can make a full review about the product of your choice.

Intragen Anti Hair Loss Treatment Concentrate by Revlon – (42 doses x 6 ml each)

This is my favorite product of all times. I did a review on Intragen Anti Hair Loss Treatment Concentrate about 3 years ago when I discover it and I’ve been using it once a year (it is recommended to be used 2-3 times a year) ever since. The box contains 42 doses of 6 ml each that you can apply on dump hair. If you have real serious hair loss problems is recommended to use a dose every day. It’s also available in boxes with 12 or 6 doses and it’s exclusively sold in hair salons.

I always got my treatment from an annual sale exposition of hair products but last year I managed to buy it straight from Revlon headquarters. It’s a bit expensive (here in Romania the 42 doses box retails for almost 90 Eur) but is really worth it. It lasts me about six months and has really amazing effects. This treatment is the main product to thank, without him I would be bald, really.

Intragen Anti Hair Loss Shampoo – 1250 ml

This is my second favorite hair product and used together with the Anti Hair Loss Treatment Concentrate fights against hair loss problems, strengthens your hair and restores its health. It’s also sold exclusively in Revlon hairdressing salons because it’s a professional product and is available in a 1250 ml bottle for the price of 20 Eur. I think it’s very affordable considering it’s a professional shampoo and honestly it lasts me 1 year even though I have long hair (but thin). If you have thick and long hair this shampoo will surely last you probably 6-10 months but is really worth the investment.

Contains Vitamins E, A, B6, B5 and minerals so it’s almost like a liquid vitamins and minerals cocktail for your hair. 🙂

Kerastase Specifique Nutri-energising Daily Anti-hairloss Spray – 125 ml

This is another great product to fight hair loss problems. I finished using this a few months ago. It comes in a 125 ml bottle with a pump and because it’s a professional product it’s only available in L’Oreal hairdressing salons. It is a really expensive product (I remember paying around €30.00) considering it’s only a spray and used daily (as it is recommended) it wears off pretty fast. Being a mist I tend to spritz it more than necessary sometimes and also because I love how it smells.  It helps reinforce the hair  fibre and maintain the density of thinning hair.

It’s very easy to use, a very practical product if you are in a hurry or don’t wanna spent time using treatments that contain vials, you just spray it on dry or toweled-dried hair on the roots without rinsing and you keep styling your hair as usual.

Balea Repair Night Spray (Repair Nacht Kur) – 150 ml

This spray can be found in exclusively in Dm drugstores and has a cheap price. It comes in a 150 ml bottle with pump, very easy to use. Contains Phytokeratin complex and it’s recommended to be used on deteriorated hair and not only. Regenerates the hair and helps restore its health. Right before bedtime you spritz it 5-10 times on dry or damp hair and leave it in for the night. It doesn’t stain and smells really nice. I don’t remember the price (promise to check it next time) but is very cheap, something under €5.00.

Paul Mitchel Seal and Shine – 250 ml

This product comes in a 250 ml bottle with a pump and is meant for thermal protection and condition. It’s also a professional product sold exclusively in hairdressing salons and I bought this a few months ago for the price of  €10.00 – 45.00 Lei. I spritz this product on my toweled-dried hair before using my hairdryer and flat iron, to protect my hair and seal my ends. It’s suitable for all hair types.

I still like to use it from time to time, even though I don’t use the flat iron and hairdrier anymore, because it gives a natural shine to my hair and calms the hair locks .

Anian Liquid Keratin – 250 ml

Anian Liquid Keratin comes in a transparent 250 ml bottle and contains ingredients that are identical to those of the hair structure itself, which act with greater intensity the more damaged the hair. The action of Liquid Keratin revives the hair’s naturally silky shine, bringing it to life and giving it volume so that it looks radiant and healthy again.

It supposed to be used on moist hair by spraying it all over your hair and massaging it gently and after spreading it with a comb. It’s very important to dry it with the hairdryer after, as the heat is required to fix the active ingredients to the hair.

What I don’t really like about it is that my hair becomes a little sticky afterwards and it’s a little bit difficult to comb it, otherwise is a really helpful product. Is available in beauty  hair shops and supermarkets and is not an expensive product. I don’t remember how much I payed for it, I bought this from my trip in Ibiza. 🙂

Toni&Guy Iron-It Heat Defense Spray – 200 ml

This is another product which ensures maximum heat protection for straight styles. It’s suitable for all hair types, especially if you are often using a flat iron or hairdryer. It’s a light spray that protects against heat damage, conditions & smoothes, boosting natural shine. Spray it on damp hair if you are using a hairdryer or on dry hair if you use a flat iron.

I’ve used this product for about 2 years, I also have it in a 50 ml variant to use it when I travel, and I really love its smell. I can’t tell you exactly the price because I always take advantage of special offers and I buy it at half of price so it could be from 5 – 10 Eur (20 – 40 Lei) and it can be found in pharmacies, drugstores and Dm drugstores.

Kerastase Nutritive Nectar Termique – 150 ml

This is a professional product available only in hairdressing salons and the price can vary depends on the distributor. I got this for 25 Eur a few months ago but I’ve also seen it at 50 Eur in luxury salons.

Kerastase Nectar Termique is destined for dry to very dry hair but since my hair needed a high protection against the flat iron I decided to buy it. It contains extract of Royal Gelee and gluco sleel and I’ve start to use it even in absence of a flat iron or hairdryer. I just take a little product (the size of a bean), rub it between my hands and after apply it along my damp hair locks (not on the roots because it tends to make it look oily). It really tames the hair so I won’t have that lion hairstyle when it’s dry. 🙂 It makes it softer, silky to touch and gives it a nice healthy natural shine. It also smells good. 🙂

Chamomile Shampoo – 300 ml

I purchased this shampoo from a supermarket. It comes in a 300 ml transparent bottle and the price is almost a joke (2-3 Lei / 0.50 Eur).  It’s a shampoo for blonde hair which can be used daily and promises to lighten your hair color. It has a nice smell of chamomile and lemon. I use this shampoo every time I wash my hair before using Intragen Anti Hair Loss Shampoo.

Garnier Natural Beauty Balsam-Shampoo with Vanilla – 300 ml

I admit, I first bought this shampoo (and kept buying it for 5 years already) because of its wonderful vanilla smell. It’s a 2 in 1 product a balsam/conditioner and shampoo (even though a individual vanilla conditioner exists) with a very soft formula that will gently wash your hair leaving it soft, silky and scented.

This product can be found on drugstores and supermarkets (but not in Romania unfortunately) and for a very cheap price (around €2.00  or less).

Balea Blond Conditioner (Spulung) – 200 ml

This one is my favorite conditioner that I’ve used for years (when I ran out of Garnier Vanilla Conditioner which I can’t purchase in my country) and it’s specially designed for blond natural or dyed hair. It has coloration pigments with blonde shining effects and UV protection. It makes your hair silky and soft, easy to comb and without loading it. Contains chamomile which gives nice blonde reflexes or helps maintain your natural blonde color. It hydrates the hair and it supposed to leave it in for 1 minute before rising off.

It’s a Dm drugstore exclusive product and the price is around €4.00 (16.00 Lei).

L’Oreal Tecni Volume Lift 3 Root Lift Spray Mousse – 250 ml

This is a professional product available only in exclusive L’Oreal Professional hairdressing salons. I bought this last year for the price of 65.00 Lei (€15.00). It is a really great product, it has done wonders for me, it gives me volume at the roots, doesn’t feel greasy at all, doesn’t load the hair and it’s probably the only product that can keep my hair straight and with volume for 2 days.

You suppose to spray it at the roots and after style it with a large hair brush and your hairdryer but honestly I could never do that. It tends to get sticky so I keep messing up my hair. I have really no talent in styling my hair with a brush so I’m always using this product when I go to a hairdressing salon. 🙂

Balea Locken Relax Serum – 50 ml

This is again a drugstore product available exclusively at Dm drugstores (around €2.50 – 10.00 Lei). It’s a serum for curly or wavy hair. Since I naturally dry my hair it tends to get wavy so I like using this serum to define my easy waves, hydrates my hair and give it a nice shine towards the ends. I don’t apply this serum at the roots because it tends to make my hair oily so I have to wash it again after 2 days. It comes in a very sleek bottle with a pump and one pump and a half is enough to tame my hair. 🙂

It’s a great product if you don’t want to use a mousse.

Syoss Volume Lift Mousse Extra Strong Hold – 250 ml

This is probably the only mousse my hair seems to like. I apply it on wet hair, massage it in and then tie my hair in a bum leaving it like that for as long as I want, even until is completely dry. Because my hair is straight (a bit wavy on the left side), thin and soft I like to have curls from time to time so I ask the help of Syoss Volume Lift Mousse. To keep my curls looking natural I have to spritz my hair 2 times a day otherwise it will look puffy, as I said my hair won’t resist to any hairstyle.

This product can be found in supermarkets and it has a great price value.

Syoss Shine & Hold Hairspray – 300 ml

The same as the previous product this one can be found in supermarkets and is has a reasonable price. It’s fast drying and has an extra strong hold formula which can keep my hairstyle they way I want for 3-4 hours tops (more than other hairsprays have ever could).

I know this is was a very long article but I hope it was helpful for some of you. If you are interested in one of these products please let me know and I can review it separately. 🙂 I would love to hear your comments and impressions. What hair care products do you use? Do you prefer professional hair products or you’ve found other affordable hair products along the way?  Please share your thoughts. 🙂

You are really using a lot of products for your hair. I use only shampoo, conditioner and sometimes a spray or something for my ends (I don’t know if ends is ok :D).

Ends is perfect. Well I like to try different products to see which are the ones fitted for my hair needs. I’m only using some of them a few times a week others only from time to time when I wanna try different hairstyles. 🙂

I’m also experiencing great hair loss for more than a year and that really makes me so sad. 🙁 I was still 15 when my hair experience chemicals from salons. I guess that’s the main reason why I’m suffering this hair loss. 🙁 What effective product can you recommend to me? The cheapest and available international. Thanks. Most especially a product available in Philippines. 🙂

Hey Vanessa! You should try to look for the first two products I wrote about. Intragen Anti-Hair Loss Treatment & Shampoo by Revlon. They are sold exclusively in beauty salon. As I said the shampoo has a really great price value, it lasts me 1 year and the treatment although it might be expensive is it really working. If the 42 doses box is too expensive you can try and buy the 12 doses one. I’ve also try Vichy but it only fixes the problems for 1-2 months and then I was back to normal.

I use Tresemme 24 Hour Body Shampoo and Conditioner. I have very fine and thin hair and I’m always looking to add volume and thickness to it.
I am really interested in trying the Intragen Anti Hair Loss Treatment Concentrate by Revlon
In your older review you mentioned that it can revitalize and strengthen even the finest hair
I really want to add volume and strengthen the health of my hair. So I am excited to try. 🙂

Does it matter what shampoo you wash your hair with before applying and should you use conditioner before applying? xoxo

It would be great if you could also buy the Intragen Anti Hair Loss Shampoo but is not mandatory. You just wash your hair with your normal shampoo, apply conditioner and after you toweled-dried your hair you can start applying one dose of the treatment. You can also choose to do an intense therapy and that means you must a apply a dose everyday on the roots (even on dry hair).
