Hello cuties!
I don’t know if you guys remember that back in the spring of 2015 when Guerlain Mono Eyeshadow Collection / Ecrin 1 Couleur (photos, swatches, info) was released I tested and reviewed all the shades, minus one. Well that one exception is today’s Guerlain Taupe Secret (01) Mono Eyeshadow review. They didn’t have this color available as a tester back then, but eventually I got in the original packaging and I still want to share it with you. As you know this is a permanent collection so you can find it available even today at Guerlain’s counters.
Where to buy:
U.S. – Now at Sephora, Nordstrom
Romania – Now at Sephora, Douglas, Kendra, Marionnaud
Guerlain Taupe Secret (01) Eyeshadow ($34.00 / £21.15 / 165.00 Lei for 2 g / 0.07 oz) is a light golden taupe with gray and warm undertones and a high metallic finish. The packaging is gorgeous with a luxurious touch, a metallic mirror-like golden case which is also very difficult to photograph. It comes with a duo sponge applicator which may come in handy if you are on the go and don’t have a brush nearby, but I do admit that I never used it. It also has a mirror enclosed, useful for minor touch ups.
It has a medium color payoff, which is definitely enhanced and becomes more vibrant and pigmented if you are using an eyeshadow base or creamy eye color. I would have definitely wanted a more opaque color coverage from this color, as it is beautiful and very versatile, looking great paired with so many other colors.
The texture is very soft but just a bit powdery and it tends to sheer out when applied on the lid. I had no fall out during the application and it was easily blendable.
I had about six hours wear with this formula, before the color sheered away and I also noticed a bit of creasing.
Enjoy more photos…
