Guerlain Apres L’Ondee 5 Couleurs Palette Review, Swatches, Photos

by Tavia

Hello cuties!

After a rainy day like the one we had here yesterday Guerlain Apres L’Ondee 5 Couleurs Palette seems to have just the right shade combinations. Guerlain After the Rain Palette combines five eyeshadows in different textures from matte to satin and metallic in nude and blue tones.

Part as the newly released Guerlain Fall 2016 Collection I showed you the other week, this palette was honestly not my first choice when it comes to its colors as I’m not digging blue shades that much, but when I got to play them, the quality of the formula made me reconsider.

Guerlain Apres L’Ondee (05) 5 Couleurs Palette ($69.00 / €60.50 / 300 lei for 6 g / 0.21 oz) is a combination of five eye shadows ranging from light, luminous white and gray to blue and dark gray. This product is a tester so check out the ingredients and original packaging in my Guerlain Coque D’Or 5 Couleurs Palette review.

Guerlain Apres L’Ondee #01 is a luminous white with fine silver shimmer and a soft satin, metallic finish. It had a good color payoff, showing it even on bare skin when I swatched it. It had a very smooth, buttery consistency with a light-wear formula that didn’t feel dry or patchy for one second.

It applied smoothly on the lid, without any fall-out and it was easily blendable. Since it’s the brightest color in the palette is ideal to brighten up your makeup and also used on the brow bone. I had a bit over eight hours wear with this formula and I might say is my favorite shade judging by its quality.

Guerlain Apres L’Ondee #02 is a light beige-silver with fine shimmer and a satin finish. It had a semi-sheer coverage as it had some fall-out right from the pan when I swatch it. It had a smooth texture but felt a bit powdery nonetheless.

It adheres better over an eyeshadow primer and will give less fall-out during the application. The color tends to sheer out the more you blended and looks a bit uneven to me. You can apply it all over the lid, as a base color and gently pat it with a brush or your finger. I had about seven and a half hours wear before it started to show signs of fading.

Guerlain Apres L’Ondee #03 is a light-medium blue with violet undertones and a matte finish. It had a semi-sheer coverage while it took some layering to be able to build up the color to show on bare skin. It looks a bit patchy and uneven when applied, even though the texture feels fine and smooth, but the formula is a bit drying to me.

It’s a base color and you can use it all over your lid but don’t expect a rich or intense color with an opaque coverage. It’s meant to be more of a sheer, soft blue I think and can be intensified using the smoky shades. I had about seven hours wear with this formula before it started to wear off.

Guerlain Apres L’Ondee #04 is a medium blue with fine light blue shimmer and a satin finish. It had a fairly good color payoff when swatched on bare skin and looking more intense over an eyeshadow primer.

The texture felt a bit dry and gritty to the touch while the formula is patchy. I had fall-out during the application and the color did look uneven as well so it will take some layering. It was easily buildable to it sheered out in the meantime. I had about seven and a half hours wear before showing signs of fading.

Guerlain Apres L’Ondee #05 is a dark gray with matte finish. So much for a smoky shade when swatched on bare skin as it takes a few layers to bring it up to a medium opacity. I use it only smudged on my lower lash line, to intensify a bit my outer V or as an eyeliner.

It is the darkest color of the palette and named a smoky one as well but it surely doesn’t look too rich or intense for the job. The texture feel fine to the touch while the formula is a bit drying to me. It had no fall-out during the application but the color looked uneven. I had a bit over seven hours wear with this formula.

Yep – your swatches looked exactly the same as Christine’s on Temptalia. Patchy, dry and gritty shades. A couple of good shades and the rest are not worth the money. Such a shame Guerlain.

Genevieve, I also thought that these Guerlain palettes swatched bad and assumed that they are bad quality. But this is the case when it swatches bad but applies like a dream. I got one in Rose Barbare and quality is amazing, buttery smooth and pigmented when you apply it to the lids. I am thinking of buying another one 🙂
