Essence Lucky, Party Princess Nail Polishes Review, Swatches, Photos

by Tavia

Hello beauties!

Essence Lucky and Party Princess are two new nail polishes in bright and vibrant colors just perfect to be worn this summer. Anyone who likes to deep their toes in the waters of intense should definitely check out these new Essence nail colors. I usually prefer to review each nail polish separately but these two are a perfect match and look so great together so I decided to combine them and wear them together.

Essence Lucky (09) Nail Polish (€1.79 / 9 lei for 8 ml/ 0.27 fl oz) is sweet medium cool raspberry pink with blue undertones and a nice glossy finish. It has a light creamy formula, a bit thinner but which didn’t give me any problems during the application. The color is fairly opaque in one coat but after the second coat it reaches a full opacity and appears as a more intense color.

The application went well without streaking, bubbling or pooling along the edges of the nail. Even though Essence Lucky has a lighter formula, it glided easily and evenly across the nails. In two coats it gives a beautiful rich color with a nice gel-like shine so a top coat is only an option if you want to make the color last longer.

Essence Party Princess (07) Nail Polish (€1.79 / 9 lei for 8 ml/ 0.27 fl oz) is multicolored nail polish glitter with turquoise, silver and pink shimmer and has a very light jelly texture. The formula glides easily across the nails but it doesn’t manage to spread the glitter evenly right from the first coat.

You will have to build up its shimmer effect and add up to 3 coats if you want to wear the color on its own but if you want to add just a touch of glitter one or two coats applied over a colored nail polish will do.

Since Essence recently released new nail treatments and products I decided to use Essence The Gel Base Coat and Essence The Gel Top Coat. I’m thinking of doing a separate review for each of these products but so far I will tell you that I’m dying over the top coat as it gives such an amazing shine, a truly intense gel-effect shine while the base coat has more of a thick formula which doesn’t glide so well across the nails and seems a little bit tacky.

I had 6 days wear with Essence Party Princess and Lucky nail polishes and you can see in the photos bellow how they behave with and without a top coat. On my left hand nails I applied Essence The Gel Top Coat so after six days I had minor visible tip wear but without chipping which is a pretty good result considering the quality of a drugstore nail polish. On the nails where I didn’t applied top coat the results were a mattified color, no chipping but visible tip wear.

I love both of these polishes and the new Gel Top Coat, it really did wonders on my nails. The only product that I would recommend is the Gel Base Coat, as it has such a tricky formula. 🙁
