China Glaze Pool Party nail polish from the Poolside Summer 2010 Collection – Review, Photos, Nail Swatches

by Tavia

Hi everyone,

A few days ago I received a few nail polishes from the Poolside Summer 2010 Collection by China Glaze. I tested the Pool Party nail polish first since you know my addiction for pink. If you are interested in my China Glaze colors visit their website.

Pool Party is one of the 6 colors included in the Poolside collection. It’s said to be a bright color, a neon pink, but I noticed a difference in color after I’ve applied the nail polish and I let it dry for couple of minutes.

I love the color in the bottle, that bright pink almost similar to fuchsia but after the nail polish dries it changes to a more orange peachy shade.

Pool Party – 3 coats

In the first photo (sorry for the poor quality) you can see the result after I layered 3 coats of Pool Party. The texture is matte so if you like matte nail polishes you should give this collection a try. I don’t like to layer more than 2 coats of polish but this one was not opaque and I couldn’t seem to get the real color with only 2 coats. I can’t say that I’m happy with those 3 coats either because it tends to be a little transparent towards the top of the nail, so I’ve applied one layer of top coat.

In my opinion the shiny Pool Party shade looks better but you can wear it as you please. The application was OK, I had not problems with the brush whatsoever, it just picked up enough product so everything went smoothly.

Pool Party in 3 coats + top coat

This was my first time when I’ve tried a nail polish from China Glaze and I have to say I expected more from it.

After the jump check out more photos with Pool Party nail polish after 3 days.

Pool Party 3 days later

You know that I like to keep the polish on my nails for a few days to see if it’s really chip resistant, so I did the same test with this one. I struggle to keep it on my nails for 3 days but unfortunately I couldn’t resisted anymore so I had to take it off. See for yourself the result in the next photos.

Pool Party – no top coat- 3 days later

The polish is chipped badly and I’m disappointed to see this. You can imagine what’s my first impression about China Glaze products.

Now let’s check how those nails where I’ve applied top coat look like after 3 days.

Pool Party with top coat – 3 days later

The result is a little bit different then in the first photo but I still can’t say it’s a chip resistant nail polish. I kept it on my nails so long to see how much it can chip but I’m sure that many of you will remove it just after the second day.

Have you tried China Glaze nail polishes? How was your experience? Please share with me. 🙂

What a gorgeous colour, I’m excited for these polishes. I think these chip so fast because they are neons, which seem to be similar to mattes as far as wear goes. It’s unfortunate that they don’t last very long, but they are so pretty, that I have a hard time resisting them anyway. I’m sure I’ll end up picking up at least a couple of colours from this collection. I can’t resist such pretty brights for summer!

Hi there! I think you are probably right, I’ve noticed that all neons chip so fast. Essie Pink Parka was in the same shade with this one and in 3 days was history. I’m wearing now another neon color from this collection. Review will come up in 2 days 🙂

Hi! Indeed is very bright, like all the colors from this summer collection. As I said in this article, the photos were taken with my brother’s cam so I’m sorry for the poor quality.
I hope I will buy a new one after Easter 🙂

Wow, what a beautiful and bright color! It’d be perfect for summer but it’s such a shame that it chips so fast!

Hi Gio! Well seems like all the neons shades have a short life. They are just to beautiful to be true 🙂

I recently purchased my 1st three ChG polishes (you can see them on my blog) and I’m thrilled with them! I haven’t tried the Poolside Collection and I won’t though I like these colors but just for my feet lol 😀
Anyway, I have Let’s Groove, Short & Sassy and Ruby Pumps. All three of them are great! I’ll post Let’s Groove tomorrow. 🙂

Anyway, I’ll be definitely get few more of ChG polishes, they’re so interesting and I really like them. And for now. my favorite one is Ruby Pumps. I know you’re not into reds but PLEASE try that one if you ever get the chance. It’s STUNNING! 😀

*kisses&hugs*

Hi Vesna! I can’t wait to read your post tomorrow. I’m not really happy with ChG nail polishes because they chip right after the second day. I’m wearing now a bright orange and it’s the same like this one. I don’t really like to change my nail polish every 2 days, I’m more on the other side kind of girl, that likes a chip resistant nail polish that I can wear with no problems for at least 5 days. How were your polishes? They chipped so fast like mine?

Well, I have gel on my nails so every nail polish lasts for days on my nails so I’m not much of help when it comes to that :/ But, I never really had any problems with any polishes even before I got gel nails. I think my nails are just like that. 🙂

Maybe you should try out some other colors? I think those with shimmer like Ruby Pumps or Emerald Sparkles come off harder because of that shimmer in it. It really took me some time to remove Ruby Pumps, lol. 😀

I used to have gel on my nails last summer too, and I didn’t had any problem with any kind of nail polish. Even the cheapest ones that before were lasting 2 days, then were lasting 7 days 🙂 I know it’s difference when you have gel on your nails and when you have them natural. :)My nails are long enough just by themselves and I don’t want to put gel again. 😉
