Bobbi Brown Lip Color in No.04 Brown is part of the lipstick shades that were instantly sold out when released, as it has the first Bobbi Brown lipstick formula which became a bestseller. All the initial lip color promise and deliver a creamy, comfortable formula with a full-coverage. I got the Brown shade a couple of weeks ago as part of the press kit along with other Bobbi Brown makeup products (preview, photos).

Bobbi Brown Brown (04) Lip Color (119.00 Lei / $27.00 / £20.00 for 3.4 g / .12 oz) is described as a medium pink brown. It’s a medium-dark rosy brown with a satin finish. It had mostly rich opaque color coverage while the formula was medium creamy but glided and had a good glide that deposit an even color during the application.
It applied without dragging, with a creamy and thicker consistency (it felt comfortable on the lips nonetheless) but it created some lines on the lips. I can’t say it emphasizes lip lines but you can totally distinguish faint lines if you look closely, but not noticeable from a normal distance.
The formula is said to be infused with Vitamins E and C as well as Beeswax and promises to moisturize and comfort the lips. During the past couple of days I felt my lips quite dry (freezing temperatures outside) and I can’t say I found this formula to be that moisturizing and hydrating.
When my lips are in a good condition, soft and smooth then I do get along with this formula but otherwise I can’t say that it does help moisturize my lips, like other creamy lipstick would.
I did had about 6 hours wear with No.4 Brown shade, and it was neither drying nor hydrating for me.
The color is classy and elegant but for a light skin tone like me I feel it’s just a little bit to dark. I do like wearing brown shades on my lips but I feel that this one would be more appropriate for those with medium to darker skin tones, or even for me during the summer when I get some tan.

This was the first Bobbi Brown product I bought way back in the ’90’s. I remember it being a bit more pink, but that could just be my natural lip color has more pink in it. It is till my favorite Bobbi formula.
