NYX Doll Eye Mascara Review, Swatch, Photos

by Tavia

Hello beauties!

A new mascara that I got to try out since NYX Cosmetics opened its first store in Bucharest was NYX Doll Eye Mascara. What I loved from the start about this mascara is that on the packaging it shows a photo with its brush so you can very well see the bristles and decide if this is something that you would wear. I’m actually quite picky when it comes to mascara wands so if I don’t like the bristles I don’t even bother to try the product. I do admit is not a healthy attitude because there are times when a new mascara can surprise you and give you big, fat lashes.

Hello doll-face! For irresistibly fluttery eyelashes try this mascara on for size. Doll Eye Mascara uses a unique blend of natural oils Vitamin E and nylon fibers to extend eyelashes to almost faux proportions. Choose from lengthening volumizing or waterproof versions.

NYX Doll Eye Mascara (44.00 Lei/ £6.90/ $9.50 for 8 g/ 0.28 oz) is available in three shades and the one I’m reviewing today is DE01 Extreme Jet Black.

I’ve been trying on this mascara for the past few weeks until I decided to write this review. The brush has like an hourglass shape and it’s easy to use and coat your lashes. It’s a volume mascara so it does a pretty good job in this sector, adding volume to my natural thin lashes. I use only two coats of mascara which are enough to add volume and length to my lashes while the brush also does curl them.

The black color is pretty dark but I can’t say it’s the darkest mascara out there, not something that I would consider intensely pigmented or pitch black. To me this is more like a day time mascara, a good one to achieve volume and length but without any dramatic effect.

I find that in my case it doesn’t do such a great job when it comes to separating the lashes and some of them get clumped together. I do prefer a mascara that separates my lashes, gets even into that tiny and small lashes and adds a thick black layers so they’ll look voluminous.

During the day I didn’t have any problems with flaking or smudging and it stays put for the entire day. It feels normally light on the lashes and it gets removed easily with a regular makeup remover or micellar lotion.

After all it’s an affordable drugstore mascara that does a good job on keeping your lashes curled for hours and adds a bit of volume.
