Lancome’s Mascaras have the best mascara formula I’ve ever used. Along the years I’ve tried lots of Mascaras Brands, from Max Factor and L’Oreal to Maybelline and Rimmel. Some of them were great at first, like Max Factor Masterpiece ( It was love at first sight with this baby ), but after a while – and I’m not talking months – the effect was not the same and it really ended very fast. Some of my friends were using it too and we all realized that after 3 weeks we need a new one. I like the texture of a new mascara, and I know is natural that after a few weeks of using will not have the same effect like in the beginning, but with Masterpiece all was happening very fast. Every 3 weeks I had to buy a new one, so I start searching for a new brand of mascara in the same price range.
Soon after this I took a trip by plane and I had the chance to scoop into the tax free shops. Here I found LancomeHypnose and Definicils wrapped together at a very good price. I knew Hypnose was launched in 2004 and quickly became the best world selling mascara, so tempted by the 2 in 1 price offer and reviews I’ve decided to give it a try.
I can tell you that I’ve been using Hypnose Volume Mascara by Lancome for more than 3 years, buying it again and again. I like a mascara that can give volume, definition and lengthening all in one and Hypnose really does it all. They say it gives up to 6 times the volume and intensifies lashes from root to tip but I like it even more because my lashes are curled and separated without that “spider look”. When I bought it for the first time I realised the tube is very wet, so it will last longer without drying up. I like even the shape of the tube, dark and glossy but in the same time classic and elegant. Its formula is enriched with Vitamin B5 and will softsculpt your lashes without smearing, smudging of clumping them. It’s by far the best volume mascara I’ve ever used. You can find it available in 3 shades: Black, Brown and Deep Black. Purchase it from almost every beauty shop ( 24$ ) , order it online from Sephora or if you take a vacation don’t forget to scoop for offers in airport’s beauty shops.
One layer of Hypnose Volume Mascara
Second layer of Hypnose Volume Mascara
Definicils High Definition Mascara from Lancome that I bought together with Hypnose gives my lashes a more natural look. At first I was impressed by the sleek tube, that looks very elegant. Its brush looks like a normal one without curves and gives me long and perfectly defined lashes in no time. Its patented brush shapes and separates every lash from base to tip and gives a superb definition.
I usually use this mascara during day time when I don’t have some fancy plans. Because it gives me a natural look I tend not to use to much makeup and apply light pink , peachy or natural brown colors and of course some lipgloss. It’s available in 4 shades: Black, Brown, Deep Brown and Navy. Its price is similar to Hypnose, depends of the shop.
One layer of Lancome Definicils Mascara
Two layers of Lancome Definicils Mascara
After trying these two mascaras for a while, I realised that Lancome is definitely my favorite brand of mascaras and decided to go for a new try by buying Fatale – Exceptional Volume Sculpting 3D Comb Mascara. At first sight, the tube is smaller and thicker than the one’s of Hypnose and Definicils. Like Hypnose and Definicils, Fatale did not disappoint me. The brush was kind of strange for me in the beginning ( I didn’t had the chance to use a mascara with a similar brush) and I needed some time to getting used to it. The Fatale brush is a three sided comb with flat surfaces and contains a silicone formula that wraps lashes in most potent volume ever. To use it you must develop a technique. Mine is, placing the combs at the base of my lash and wiggle a bit to give it extra volume, then I comb it through. For applying the second layer I use another comb and to give more separation I comb lashes repeatedly 2 or 3 times with only one of the combs.
I usually like to apply 1 or 2 layers of Fatale and after come with 1 layer of Hypnose. It just pump up the volume and separates the lashes better. It’s only my opinion and it works great for me, but you can try it in your own ways.
My verdict is as it follows: Fatale is an amazing luxurious mascara that adds volume, builds up your lashes and last all day. You can find it available in only 2 shades: black and brown and usually cheaper (22 $) than Hypnose.
All those being said, now I only need to try the new Hypnose Drama by Lancome. It’s already available in the shops from 1 August in Excessive Black shade at 24$ (but in some shops it can reach 32$). I’m anxious to try this instant full body volume mascara and see if it really takes lashes to new extremes, creating full body and giving high-volume in a single stroke. The brush is S-shaped curve and the tube is resembling the old Hypnose. It’s said that it works magic on tiny lashes, even dramatizes corner lashes that other brushes miss ( or worse, mess). Like its predecessor Hypnose, the new Hypnose Drama contains Pro-Vitamin B5 and give a fluid and creamy application.
How about your favorite mascara? Are you a Lancome fan just like me or you have another favorite mascara? I’m always open for new suggestions and willing to try a new great mascara.

Great review! The only Lancome mascara I ever purchased was Flextencils, and I really liked it for the nice length it gave my lashes. Then I have samples of Hypnose, Definicils and Lancome’s primer (which is amazing!) and they’re great too. Out of the 3 you reviewed I like how Definicils looks best on you.
Thanks Marce! Maybe Flextencils will be my next try. I want perfectly curled & lengthened lashes and if Flextencils promise to do it, then I will make it one of my favorites, like the others Lancome mascaras.
This is like the millionith review that I’ve read about how great this mascara works…as I was putting on my average Maybelline brand the other day, I had a suspicion that I needed to upgrade. Thanks to this post, I will do that. I also want to say, I love that you posted pics of each one. So many beauty bloggers don’t do this; they merely report “how well a product worked/works…which is great; but we like to see the proof.
Thanks again!
Thank you for you comment Nicole. I’m happy that you find this article helpful. When I make a review, I always try to put as many detailed photos about the product as I can, cause I think readers will want to see how this product look on me, or maybe they want to see the package that came with the product or any other details. You can check out my other reviews and tell me what you think about them.

Fatale is bar none THE mascara for ladies such as myself with more fine, thin lashes. The effect, once you master the combing technique, is remarkable–I feel almost normal compared to those younger ones with more abundant lashes. Sooooooooooo disappointing that Lancome no longer includes Fatale in their product line.
Hi Bea! Indeed Fatale is a tricky mascara and you need to practice to get those full lashes. It took me quite a while to learn the mystery of the wand. 🙂

I just began to use mascara, actually I AM 20 years old and before I didn’t put mascara. I began with hypnose but the thing is that it doesn’t last long ( max 1 month) but it gives me a wonderful effect even though when it’s new it is very wet. Iam a student and each month I buy a new mascara, I have tried others but that is not the same effect.so I am planning to buy covergirl because I HAVE HEARD only good rewiews about.µ
but still, lancomee hypnose seems to be the best!!^^
Lancôme mascara is one of my favorite.
