La Mer The Oil Absorbing Tonic – Review + Photos

by Tavia

Hello beauties,

As I promised in the preview that I did a few weeks ago, I’ve returned with a full review and my honest opinion about La Mer The Oil Absorbing Tonic.

I mentioned in my preview that I have an oily skin complexion. This tonic is not only for women with oily skin like me, so anyone who has combination to oily skin can use this product.

I don’t know where to begin because the Oil Absorbing Tonic has so much to offer and I have a lot to say about it. The review I’m going to make today is based only on my experience with this product in the winter time. I’ve read some other reviews about women who have used it during summer and there were another great effects. A long story short, these women were living in a very hot climate or with very high humidity and the Oil Absorbing Tonic stopped the appearance of the oil on their complexions.

I will not get into details about ingredients, what they do and other general stuff because I’ve already talked about that in my preview. I’m going to go straight to the subject.

My experience

If you use it regularly it significantly reduces excess sebum that can lead to adult breakouts. I have been using a different tonic lotion over 2 years now and I was pretty pleased with it but trust me the Oil Absorbing Tonic is way better, especially for those girls (I’m one of them) who hate to have their face shining during the day. I completely hate it when I look in the mirror and I see the oil coming out of my face.

I’ve been using the Tonic for over a month now and I noticed that black heads are visible reduced. In that “period of the month” I usually had breakouts, but not this time. I was amazed to see how it can control my oil without overdrying my skin!

I know that La Mer products are pricey but if you’ll give this tonic a try you will not return to your old one. It comes in a 200 ml transparent bottle, a plus because you can see how much liquid is left inside, but a minus because the bottle has a cap and not a pump ( I usually consider the bottles with pumps to be more hygienic and easier to use). During the month I used the Tonic, I consumed only a little amount (1 cm on the bottle) and I bet it’s going to last me a few good months. I will try to update this post when I’ll finish the tonic and let you know how much it lasted.

A 200 ml bottle of  Oil Absorbing Tonic costs 60$ and it’s definitely worth the money. I even dare to say that this is one of La Mer products that is not pricey and has great effects especially for those who want to get ride of that sebum excess during the day.

As soon as you will open the green box in which it came packed you can see the blue liquid inside the bottle. At the bottom you will notice a white color liquid (second photo). You need to gently shake the bottle to mix the two liquids, until they color becomes a light blue, like the third photo. 🙂

Application

After you removed your makeup and cleaned your face it’s time to use the Tonic lotion. Take the Oil Absorbing Tonic and gently shake the bottle to activate the tonic. Moisten a cotton pad and gently apply all over face and neck, dabbing in a gentle press and release motion. You can then follow with your daily moisturizer or face cream.

This product can also be used by adolescents that have acne problems or breakouts because is infused with algae extracts that will significantly reduce excess sebum. It’s also recommended for problem skins because it contains anti-irritants that soothe and tone the skin.

Availability

Available online at www.lamer.com and at select Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, select specialty stores.

I would really like to hear your opinion about this tonic so feel free to leave a comment. If you are interested in more opinions you can read some reviews here.
