Italian Smokey Eye by Jose Luis Yuve

Hello beauties!

Saturday morning… a pampering Guerlain makeup session at Sephora, the perfect way to start my weekend…but this day was special, not just an ordinary free makeup session hosted in another beauty shop. This day I got to meet Jose-Luis Yuve, Guerlain trainer and Export International Make-Up Artist and I had the privilege to spent a couple of hours in his company, enjoying a wonderful discussion but also receiving valuable beauty advices while he did my makeup.

I was really anxious to see what type of makeup look would Jose-Luis choose for me so I felt flattered when he told me I would look so sexy wearing an Italian Smokey Eye Look, just like the one Olivier Echaudemaison created for Sophia Loren. This type of look is meant to elongate the eyes, making them appear bigger by darkening the outer corner of the eye while keeping the inner corner more luminous. When Jose-Luis starts applying makeup everything seems to be so easy, the perfect blending and his impeccable techniques would make even the most complex makeup seem so simple, as for this look he only used two of the new Guerlain Ecrin 1 Colour shades (review, photos, swatches).

Right from the beginning I spotted on the makeup table  Guerlain Eau de Beaute, a new skincare product which I used to remove my makeup. I’m only going to tell you that it felt amazing on my skin and I can wait to hit counters this fall, as I already have it on my wishlist as a must-have Guerlain skincare product. The next step was to hydrate my complexion so I got spoiled by Abeille Royale Day Cream Wrinkle Correction, Firming and Abeille Royale Eye Care. The perfect way to apply these creams is to put a little bit of product between your fingers and slowly rub them together for a few seconds so you can break down the formula and then gently apply it on your face, as by warming up the cream between your fingers you break down the formula and the ingredients are easily absorbed into your skin.

Now moving on to the first makeup step, my complexion was looking natural thanks to Guerlain Meteorites Baby Glow (review, swatches, photos) in #02 Clair (for fair / light skin tones) and Guerlain Illuminator which was applied under my eyes, on the bridge of my nose, center of my face and chin.

If I wear to look at the photos bellow for the first time I would hardly believe this Italian Smokey Eye Look was achieved by using only two eyeshadows, but since I saw it happen it’s truly possible. Jose-Luis used Guerlain Flash Black Ecrin 1 Couleur (review, swatches, photos) and Guerlain Pink Pong Ecrin 1 Couleur (review, swatches, photos), by mixing and blending the colors together, intensifying the black towards the outer corner of the eye and later on by applying Crayon Yeux #01 and Mascara So Volume.

Eyebrows where filled and elongated with Crayon Sourcils in #01 Brun Ideal while lips where kept soft and seductive with Guerlain Rouge G #77 and as a finishing touch came the new Guerlain Meteorites Compact Powder (review, swatch, photos).
