MAC Let’s Boogie Dazzleshadow Review, Swatches, Photos

by Tavia

Hello beauties!

MAC Let’s Boogie Dazzleshadow was released last year as part of MAC Le Disko Summer 2015 Collection (info, photos) and has entered the permanent line ever since. This shade will be perfect for a night time makeup look, whenever you want to go party in the club, go dancing or attend some event that will require a sparkling makeup.

MAC Let’s Boogie Dazzleshadow ($20.00 / €25.00 for 1.5 g / 0.05 oz.) is described as a black with sparkles. MAC describes it as an eye shadow with rich, stay-true pigments that impart a beautiful, twinkling sheen.

I see it as a muted, black-gray with gold and silver sparkles and a lot of shimmer. Even though MAC describes the texture as being the perfect union of cream and powder, I find it to be very grittier and very messy when applied or swatched. When I tried to apply the color damp, or especially without an eyeshadow primer I had loads of fall-out and a semi-opaque coverage. So the ideal way to apply this and have as less fall-out as possible will be to use MAC Fix + Spray (review, photos) on your brush before you pick up the product and then try to pat it onto the lid after you’ve applied an eyeshadow primer.

The texture felt considerably smoother when applied damp and showed a more buildable color. I do like the shade but the texture and application method is very tricky and you must do it right in order not to get messy. In the beginning you’ll probably want to do your eye makeup first and the continue with the rest of you makeup.

You can also use a glitter adhesive or an eyeshadow primer with a more sticky formula that will make the shimmer particles stick better and have minimal fall out.

When applied dry, MAC Let’s Boogie Dazzleshadow didn’t impress me at all, on the contrary, I though I will never use it again, as it started creasing, fading and given me a lot of fall-out after nearly six hours wear.

When applied damp the things are completely different, no creasing and a much long-lasting color of 8 hours wear with a minimal fall out.
