Orly FX Pink Pixel Nail Lacquer – Review, Swatches & Long-Lasting Test

by Tavia

Hello pretties!

This week my nails were spoiled by Orly FX Pink Pixel nail lacquer which I bought back in September but I got to wear it only now. Pink Pixel is one of the 6 shades from Orly Spring 2013 Mega Pixel FX Collection (info & photos) but since the collection became available in my country in August I know I’m a bit behind others that have already purchased it.

Slip on some sparkle with six new shades of pixelated perfection from Mega Pixel FX. This innovative 3D formula provides millions of glitter pixels for a multi-dimensional finish. Just two quick drying layers create a long-lasting, hi-res manicure.

Orly FX Pink Pixel nail lacquer ($10.00 / 47.00 Lei for 18 ml/ 0.6 fl oz) is a vibrant cyclamen with soft purple undertones and lots of rosy glitter pixels which sometimes reflect a light gold or a vibrant pink depending on how the light hits. These glittery pixels are more like little round flakes which also give the impression of a metallic texture.

The color is opaque right from the first coat but I decided to apply a second coat only of my left hand nails so I can compare the results after a few days. The formula has a bit of texture to it and it feels gritty every time I touch the nails even though I applied a good layer of top coat.

I really enjoy wearing this color and I find suitable for the holiday season because of the sparkle it has and because it can also be layered on top of other nail polish shades. As a top coat I used   Kinetics Nano Shark Treatment (review & swatches) but only on the left hand nails.

The only thing I dislike about Pink Pixel is the hard time it gave me when I had to remove it. I used a nail polish remover with acetone to be able to get rid of this color and it took me a lot of patience and a good couple of minutes.

After 4 days Orly Pink Pixel chipped a bit from two of my left hand nails where I’ve applied top coat and I had visible tip wear on my right hand nails where I applied only one coat of nail lacquer and no top coat.
