Today I want to present you Nicole by OPI Candy is Dandy nail polish, a color that I’ve worn during the holiday season. I’ve received this shade one month ago at the annual Beauty Bloggers meeting and I have to admit is my first Nicole by OPI nail polish. Candy is Dandy is a new color part of the limited edition Nicole by OPI Gumdrops Collection (info & photos) which was released back in 2013.
Now at Walmart, CVS, DM drugstores, Ulta, H-E-B, Shoppers Drug Mart, Walmart Canada, Jean Coutu, Loblaw, and London Drug
Nicole by OPI Candy is Dandy Nail Polish ($7.99 for 15 ml/ 0.5 fl oz) is a sweet bubblegum pink with lots of holo hex glitters of different sizes that reflect different colors of green, yellow, blue, silver and pink depending on how the light hits. It has a jelly thin consistency which is applied easily on the nail leaving a sheer color.
Candy is Dandy nail lacquer it has a really sheer color coverage in one coat while in two coats it looks semi sheer but definitely not opaque. If you want a fully opaque color then you should apply a third coat but I personally rarely have the patience to do that.
The color is very pretty, especially for those who are looking for pink shades and don’t mind a shimmery finish. It sparkles beautifully and it always changes the way it looks due to those fine shimmery particles and big holo hex glitters.
The application went well, without streaking, pooling or bubbling but because of its jelly consistency you should wait for the first coat to dry before applying the second one so the glitter would be picked up easily.
As a base coat I used Jordana Garlic Growth Base Coat and on my left hand nails I used Jordana Yellow Out Top Coat to smooth out that glitter and give an extra shine.
Nicole by OPI Candy is Dandy nail polish has been on my nails during the holidays for about 6 days and on the nails where I’ve applied top coat the polish has visible tip wear and faded considerably towards the nail tips. Impressive is that Candy is Dandy lasted better on the nails where I haven’t applied top coat but there’s still some tip wear. This formula is recommended to be worn on the nails without a base coat so the color would stick better to the nails.
