Coastal Scents 88 Metal Mania Palette – Review, Photos, Swatches

by Tavia

Hi everyone!

A few days ago I posted a preview about my new Coastal Scents 88 Metal Mania Palette that I’ve bought last week. If you wanna see close-up photos with all the 88 colors of this palette, including the packing, ingredients and to find out how can you contact your Coastal Scents local distributor please read 88 Metal Mania Palette Preview Post.

I’ve promised to return with another post where I can show you all the 88 swatches, but since the weather here was cloudy in the last couple of days, you can imagine was not the best light to take photos. Anyway I decided to swatch all the eyeshadows so I won’t keep you waiting.

Quick Recap

Coastal Scents 88 Metal Mania Palette ($24.95) contains 88 vibrant colors (61 grams/ 2.15 ounces) that become even more gilded in appearance when using an eye primer. A little goes a long way, the impact is extraordinary, the color combination are endless. All the colors suppose to have a smooth texture and give metallic reflections.

Check out all the swatches right after the jump.I’ve started swatching the eyeshadows from top to bottom. You will see in each photo 22 swatches because I tested them with and without an eyeshadow primer so we can compare the results. The two eyeshadow primers used were Too Faced Shadow Insurance Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer and Sephora Glitter Eye Primer.

This palette contains indeed 88 colors but in small shades. Most of them are really pigmented even without using a primer but I suggest you applying it anyway so your color will last longer, prevent creasing and caking. If you like warm colors mostly pink, peachy, bronzy, brown, beige, champagne, copper then the 88 Metal Mania Palette will be a great choice. There are also a few shades or green, purple and grays but the brown and bronzy shades are predominant in this palette.

All the colors suppose to be metallic but I’ve noticed those with pink undertones are more frosty and lustre than metallic. All the brown, copper, bronzy, beige and even the darkest shades of green and purple are very pigmented and they do offer an intense metallic reflection. Those eyeshadows with brown undertones look great even without a primer, the color is intense, they won’t fall out but I only tested them as swatches so I can’t guarantee they will remain the same if you decide to wear them without applying your eyeshadow primer first.

The shades come in a black matte sleek palette with 2 double ended applicator brushes and a mirror inside the palette.

I really hope this post was helpful for you girls and once you saw all the swatches with and without a primer you can have a better idea about the colors from this palette. I know many of you already have an 88 Palette by Coastal Scents and some of you are thinking about buying this one.

I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts and comments about this palette. 🙂

The primer is very important. I like especially the last 3 rows.

Hi Adina! What primer do you usually use for metallic eyeshadows?

That’s a huge job. You really did it well. I can’t figure out how to take a picture of my whole arm like that.

Hi Marcia! Yeah…this took me a while, since I was also annoyed by the cloudy weather. Photographing was not a problem, the part that I hated was removing the swatches and after paint them again. 🙂

Thank you for the swatches, they must have taken you a long time to do. The colors look beautiful and they seem nicely pigmented too.

Hi Gio! I actually did them in 2 different days. Swatching is not my favorite part but I can’t imagine talking about a palette without showing the swatches, so I had to do it. 🙂 I’m thinking how many bloggers posted photos with the CS 88 palette swatches? 🙂
