In this hot summer day I just remembered about Christmas. I could trade almost anything now for a couple of hours in the Christmas Day. I have to admit that in the last few days temperatures reached +40 degrees Celsius and as much as I love sun, tanned skin, summer clothes and spirit of seaside vacations, I’m not a fan of these high temperatures. But this is not the only reason why I want to turn back time. The main reason is the gift received on Christmas Day (La Prairie – anti-aging eye cream a cellular intervention complex SPF 15) which I just finished few days ago.
I received many great gifts among the years but this one is by far the most appreciated and useful one. It came like a rescue for my eye’s skin area, because I was searching to replace my Clinique all about eyes soin total regard et contour which I was using for almost a year. I was dreaming about La Prairie since autumn, after hearing and reading all the great results that other women experienced, but I never think of it as a Christmas present to me. I have to admit that its price is kind of expensive, around 100 Eur on EBay and even more in beauty shops, but trust me its completely justified.

A sensitive skin needs not only a special care but also a sensitive makeup. As i was writing in my previous article, you need to use products specially designed for your type of skin. I will dedicate this article to those who have sensitive type of skin and i will show you how important is to select carefully from all those makeup products the ones fit for you.
First of all you must be very careful when you make your makeup-bag and if you bear in mind some important things, you won’t be facing any problems.
Foundation make-up. It must be non-comedogenic (it does not tamp the pores). For this you can rely on Boots No 7 Intelligent Balance which contains a formula that will absorb all sebum excess. With the light air texture this soft mousse foundation will give your skin a perfect finish and will provide flawless medium-to-full coverage. It has been dermatological tested and fragrance free specially designed for a sensitive skin like yours, creating a barrier that will keep your skin shine free all day. If you have a night with a big event, a cocktail party or just an important date you want to look your very best. So how about a 20 – minute facial treatment using a lot of massage techniques for lymphatic drainage?
How to do it:
- Warm your facial oil or cleanser in the palm of your hands. Pat the product on to your face and neck.
- Start in the centre of your forehead and, using medium – pressure circular movements, work your fingers out towards your temples.
- Then start at your nose and work outwards along your cheeks.
- Finish by splitting your index and middle fingers into an open “scissor” and sweep along your upper and lower lip, down across your chin to your jaw line and down the sides of your neck to your collarbone.
- To de-puff eyes, apply your eye serum on to your index, middle and ring fingers and sweep from the inner to outer corner, over your brow bone and down the inside bridge of your nose. Do both eyes in circular motions, keeping product a safe distance from your eyes. Repeat three times.
- Ensure you do this massage for 30 seconds morning and night and your skintone and texture will improve.
If you’re not a face-paint fan, take note – one of the hottest looks du jour is so natural, it’s as if you’re wearing nothing at all.
With the return of red lips and lined eyes, you’ve probably just embraced heavier make-up. However, there’s a much more understated look that’s currently key.
A natural brown shadow on lids and groomed brows look really pretty.
Make-up how-to:
- It’s all about the skin care. Make sure you’re following a scrupulous skincare regime ( that includes exfoliating, cleansing, toning and moisturising) to get the look off to its best start.
- Apply foundation just where you really need it. Erase dark circles with a liquid concealer, applying it on dark areas only, and blend.
- Dust on translucent powder with a big brush, but keep the bridge of your nose and cheeks powder – free; a little shine gives the illusion of no make-up.
- A natural brown shadow on lids, brown rather than black mascara and groomed brows looks really pretty and feminine. Fake flawless skin with highlighter on your cheekbones, the inner corners of your eyes and Cupid’s bow – a touch of tinted lip balm stops lips looking lifeless.
Nothing is more glam than dark shadow, so don’t be scared of trying it in a hurry. Blending is the key – and hides any mistakes!
- Thickly line your upper and lower lash line with a creamy black kohl pencil – Wet’N'Wild night lights kohl, has a rubber tip, use this to soften the upper lash line, taking the kohl color up on to lids slightly.
- Using your index finger, blend a dark grey powder shadow, like Collection 2000 single shadow in Moonstone, over lids, taking the color up to just under your brow bone.
- Layer a black shadow like Me Me Me Shock Shadow in graphite, over your lid and along your lower lash line. Use a small shadow brush to blend this color lightly up into your brow bone, also blend
ing it lightly out at the corners to create a cat’s eye effect.
- Line the upper and lower inner rims of your eyes with a black kohl pencil. This will block out any fleshy color between the whites of your eyes and the shadow for a more intense effect. Finish with Bourjois volume clubbing mascara in black. Try different colors for subtler smoky looks.
If you’re in a rush it’s easy to lose control of your mascara wand. Allow the mascara to dry (if you try to wipe it off straightaway you’ll just smudge it) then dip a piece of tissue in moisturiser and carefully dab over the mark to remove it.
If you like this makeup, you should also check out Cailin’s step-by-step guide on how to apply a smoky eye makeup. I find it quite helpful.
Take a white shimmer shadow like Collection 2000 Eye wear in star gaze, and blend around the inner corner of your eyes and up over your brow bone. This will act as an eye brightening base color.
- Apply a light lilac powder eyeshadow over your lids, blending it right up on to your brow bone. I like Marks&Spencer eyeshadow in pale lavender.
- Layer a dark purple shadow shade over your lids, like Prestige Cosmetics skin loving minerals eyeshadow in opal.
- Line your upper lash line and the upper and lower inner rim of your eyes with a metallic grey kohl pencil to make the white of your eyes stand out. Look for one with a hint of glitter, like Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in meteorite, to give a gorgeous hint of sparkle.
- Keep skin looking natural by using an apricot blush like 17 Sheer finish mineral blush
in natural, over your cheeks. Don’t be tempted to go too pale – you’ll look dead, not just a bit vampish!
- To finish, coat lips with a peachy lipstick, like Rimmel London moisture renew lipstick in glamorous pink, for a natural, low-key look.
Top tip
Swap your usual black wand for a purple mascara to really make your amethyst eyes stand out.
Take a light green metallic shadow shade and blend over your lid, up on to your brow bone and along your lower lash line. I like Barry M Dazzle Dust in 72.
- Next, layer on a darker green shadow shade over your lids to add intensity. You can try Rimmel London color loose shadow in vert.
- Use a brown kohl pencil, like Wet N Wild eyeliner in bran, to line the inside corner of your upper and lower lashes – black will look too harsh.
- Don’t layer on mascara, just apply one coat for a natural look.
- A baby pink blush looks great against green eyes. Swirl Maybelline dream mousse blush in mauve, over the apples of your cheeks for a pretty flush of color.

- Complete the look with a low-key creamy nude lipstick to keep the attention on your eyes. I love Miners Water Shine Lipstick in lustre.
Top tip
If you’re worried about using green all over your eyes, try just a flash of green liner instead.
It’s time to dazzle in super-glam party make-up inspired by precious jewels. When it comes to sparkling this New Year, diamonds, rubies, emeralds and amethysts really are a girl’s best friend…
- Blend a silver metallic shadow such as Rimmel London color mousse in pewter, all over you lids and along your lower lash line.
- Then line your upper and lower lash line with a silver glitter gel liner, like Eyeko Glitter liquid eyeliner, to give your eyes the perfect party sparkle.
- Line your inner upper and lower lash line with a black kohl pencil like Rimmel London soft kohl kajal
eye pencil, to dramatically define eyes. To add even more definition, give your lashes a good coat of black thickening mascara.
- Dust a light bronzer over your cheeks, chin and forehead to warm your complexion and help icy eyes stand out. L’Oreal glam bronze minerals bronzer, gives a gorgeous, natural-looking result.
- Dab a small amount of white cream or powder illuminator underneath your eyes and along the plump part of your cheeks to give the illusion that your eyes have a halo! I love Barbara Daly for tesco illuminator.
- Coat your lips with a light pink pearlescent gloss, like NYC lip gloss shine pink kiss.
Top tip
Put a tissue under your eyes when you apply glitter eyeshadow. Any excess will fall on the tissue rather than your face. No more human gliterball!
Perfect party hair can be pretty hard to pin down. Long? Short? Curly? Crimped?! The truth is , there is no ‘perfect’ hair that will suit every style – the tick is to work some makeover magic on what you’ve got.
Probably you have a really long long and flat hair and you fancy a change without a radical cut. I myself have long hair and i don’t want to cut it short just to make a new look. My hair grows very slowly and if i cut it short it will take me years to make it long again. So I’ve decided to cut a fringe.
A fringe is the perfect winter update and means you can keep your color and length. The trend right now is for a low, heavy fringe that grazes your eyelashes. It’s perfect for if you want to disguise a high forehead and showcase you amazing eyes. Continue reading ‘Tricks for long and flat hair’
