Last month I receive for testing the entire Essence Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part 2 Nail Polish Collection (preview & swatches) and the second shade I worn was A Piece of Forever nail polish. The collection features only 4 nail colors and the one I’m going to review today is very different in texture and color from the other ones.
Now in Limited Edition until 31 December 2012 at Douglas, Marionnaud, B&B and individual perfumeries (Romanian beauty shops list) and online @1001cosmetice.ro, @machiaj-online@ro.
Essence A Piece Of Forever Nail Polish (€1.99/ 10.00 Lei for 10 ml/ 0.33 fl oz) is a bright shiny gold with very subtle green undertones which dries into an almost metallic shine finish. It looks opaque right from the first coat but you will definitely need the second coat to even out the color. I don’t want to blame the formula for the terrible application of this nail polish because the brush should take all the fault.
All the new Essence nail polishes have a different brush, which actually claims to be improved but what it actually is, it’s terrible. In this case the brush is too thick, it picks way to much product (I can coat all my nails only by dipping one time the brush in the bottle) and has uneven bristles as you can see in the photo. Those bristles were the major problem and failure in applying a decent coat of polish. Some of the bristles are too short and can’t cover the nail while others are too long and they can stain with polish when I tried to even out the color. The brush leaves so many lines behind so the color looks uneven but the metallic finish and extra shine tries to cover this as much as they can. It also helpful to add a top coat just to try and fade a little bit those lines. The formula is not bad, not too thick or watery but it definitely can’t pair with this kind of brush.
As a base coat I used Jordana Garlic Growth Basecoat and for the top coat I went with Jordana Yellow Out Top Coat to protect the color only on 5 of my nails.
I worn this color for exactly 2 days and the results bright shiny color on both hands but with minor tip wear on the nails were I’ve applied top coat which is not OK after only 2 days. On the nails were I haven’t applied top coat things are bad, except the visible tip wear the polish also chipped on two of nails so I had to remove it quickly. If you do decide to wear this color arm yourselves with patience and another nail polish brush could probably do the trick but don’t get your hopes up because this polish won’t last more than 3 days with top coat.
