Apparently MAC will change few product names like Juarez and Factory which is really good after all the debate about this collection. I really like product photos, they look nice and so do the colors, but this model freaks me out. I don’t like such promo photos. I find them insulting. :/

the colors look ghostly and bland…I can see why people would be offended – in a town like Juarez where hundreds of women were killed. Bad color scheme – this is not inspiration!
The beauty powder and the blush look beautiful.

the model in the picture looks like a ghost and Bordertown eyeshadow looks creepy; MAC will have to change the names of some of the products, in my opinion. A huge marketing error that caused so much controvercy.

Thank you very much for keeping the focus of your post on the products themselves instead of rehashing the controversy. Many of the products look gorgeous.
I don’t think that MAC made such a big mistake. There are problems all over the world and you can’t be aware of every single one of them. But I do think they handled it good by listening to the people.

Both Mineralize Eyeshadows look super gorgeous! I had a sneak peek of both this week, and Bordertown swatched so pretty.
The Beauty Powder and Blush are very pretty as well.

I’ll be interested in the new names and if that will bring them back the business they are losing because of the bad publicity.

bad publicity?? who? what? where? when?

They said they will change the names of some products but they didn’t said anything about the new names. I guess they are still thinking.
Thanks for posting up pictures of this collection, I haven’t seen that anywhere else yet. I’m still not very happy about what they did, but it’s nice to see somebody focusing on the actual products, like imamakeupaddict said.
makeup morsels´s last blog post: Why Wisp
i can’t believe they changed the names. why are people so stupid to think that this is offensive???!? if anything, the mulleavys are actually getting more people aware of the tragedies and violence in ciudad juarez.
think anyone (who buys makeup) would really be talking about this issue if it wasn’t for them and their so-called “offensive” inspiration and nomenclature?
by taking offense to this and censoring their original intent, it keeps people ignorant. way to go!!
I deleted the commented addressed to Shelly because it contained dirty words, so please keep it civilized.
Here is just a part of the comment “…..no one should profit from the suffering of others if you wanted to profit from the deaths of 11? would not be offensive? and if you do not know of the deaths is because you are not smart enough to learn a little culture or learn a little more than hollow girl makeup…..”
It’s sad that someone would actually think it’s “stupid” to think such names are offensive. Some people find it offensive to show images of 9/11 in a news content program so why glorify names like “Factory” or “Juarez” “BorderTown” or “Sleepwalker”. Why is that we are so insentive to what happens outside of the U.S.? I mean try telling a mother of a victim who’s daughter was rapped, tortured and abbandoned in an empty lot that the names are just for make-up purposes. I guess it’s not offensive until it happens to you.
I’m disgusted that women would even buy from this collection! Shows how selfish you are. Good job!
MAC should donate 100% of the profits from this line to a human rights organization that helps Juarez. They donated the profits from Viva Glam to AIDS, so they can do it for Juarez.

MAC has come through and is now donating all of the proceeds to help the women of Juarez. I guess consumer’s opinions really do count with this company.
MarciaF´s last blog post: Double the Fun Lipgloss
I was excited for this collection, but then a lot of stuff was mentioned on another website. I feel for the people of Juarez, Mexico, but seriously, we have a lot of problems in this world. For anyone to take aim at MAC (which is a great company and does a lot of good) as much as they are disappointed, instead of yapping about this problem DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Write to the Government of Mexico it is their issue afterall. Make your own donations. Write to congress. I’ve noticed a lot of yapping, but no one is doing anything about it. We have genocides happening everywhere, everyday in other parts of the world. Why is what is going on in Mexico so much more important? I am still buying from this collection because the items seem great. I honestly think that complaining on a cosmetic website is immature and shows just how ignorant one can be. Just do something about the problem if is pisses you off.
yes, but no one will do a collection called
‘tsu-nami’ with names like: ‘ground meat’ or ‘tidal panic’ there’s a thing called ‘respect’… no one will? ever do a September 11 collection, with names like “Jumping Off the Window” or “Ground Zero” it’s just unthinkable/// so I don’t know what da heck those designers were thinking when they decided to get inspiration from others’ painful situation
i do NOT like the photo!!!
All I can say is that no one will? ever do a September 11 collection, with names like “Jumping Off the Window” or “Ground Zero” it’s just unthinkable/// so I don’t know what da heck those designers were thinking when they decided to get inspiration from others’ painful situation
MAC Seriously fcked up!!! SPNATION, Youtube…Im insulted and im british…i will never buy from this and im seriously doubting futre mac purchases… Dissapointed ):
I don’t want to play down the situation of the women in Juarez, but those who say that MAC and Rodarte failed, do you know about every conflict which is going on in the world? I really doubt it, and there are a lot of problems that are more local than wide known, and you can’t even google them.
MAC listened to the customers, stepped back, changed the products names and is donating a huge amount of money, what else should they do??? I think their reaction was pretty good, they saw their mistake, apologized and made good decisions, so it’s unnecessary to hate on MAC.
