Review: Illamasqua Pure Pigment in Android + Blending Brush

It’s time for another Chic Review and today I will be talking about the Pure Pigment in Android by Illamasqua from their winter collection Dystopia.

This is the third review I’m doing on the Illamasqua products after the Nail Varnish in Velocity and Sheer Lipgloss in Explode and I’m really very excited about this one because black is one of the colors that I usually include in my makeup.

If you want something that you can play with, Pure Pigment is your product. It’s a metallic, high-shine, pure-color powder that highlights eyes, cheeks and brows. Mix with eye shadow, blusher or use it on its own to intense effect. Bring out your bold side.

The package

It comes in a very chic and elegant pot with a stylish design. The top is black and printed with the Illamasqua sign, while the bottom is transparent and you can see the product.

The price is £15.00 for 1.3 g  (0.04 oz) but you can also get it in a bigger size. The Pure Pigment is available in 12 beautiful shades, including Android of course, and you can check them all (including swatches) right here.

The color

Android is a beautiful shimmering charcoal black shade with a medium pigmentation. Being a shimmering pigment I found the medium pigmentation just right because I’ve applied it on other eyeshadows with matte or satin texture and it just made the color pop with its shimmering particles.

I’ve done a couple of makeup looks using the Android pigment (I’ll be posting those in the next few days) and I’m completely in love with its metallic and high-shine power. I’ve used it in general for an evening makeup look and everytime I went to club or a party.

The texture

Although you can see it has shimmering particles included, the texture is really soft, almost like a powder and the shiny particles are really mixed together with the rest of color. I didn’t had to worry about the shimmer at all. I’ve met situations when the shimmering particles from other eyeshadows or pigments were falling down after a while and when I took a look in the mirror I had shimmer under my eye area and even on my cheeks.

I used I primer before I’ve applied the Android pigment (which I usually do) and it resisted perfectly on my lids with fading.

The Blending Brush

I’ve also got a blending brush from Illamasqua, which should be and essential makeup tool for any lady and I have to say it’s a really good one. Its bristles are very soft, so no more blending brushes with crazy bristles that are scratching my lids in some strange way. It really manages to keep the product inside its bristles and it can be used to apply and blend any cream or powder product.
