I wish that I could have (at least one time) a perfect makeup like our celebrities. Do I have a chance?
This question was in my mind for a long time. I watched TV commercials, read magazines, see movies and I wanted to have that perfect doll face, without crazy pimples ( they appear when I least expected and from nowhere), red spots or any other unexpected surprises on my face, when I woke up in the morning. Finally, after I did a little research I found at my favorite beauty brand Lancome the product that was going to “give me a new face”.
Like I told you ladies before, I don’t use foundation everyday and I try to keep on my face as less makeup as possible, but this doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t have a perfect makeup in those few days when I need to look perfect. Occasions like weddings, gathering with old friends, jobs interviews or some fancy dinners, all these ask for a perfect makeup. My help was inspired by make-up artists techniques who revealed their secrets for a perfect complexion!

The secret of a perfect complexion makeup lies in preparing the skin before applying any other makeup product. Here you can count on Lancome La Base Pro, a translucent make-up base. You must use it after you cleaned your skin and before applying your foundation. It was enough to apply only a thin layer to feel my skin incredibly soft and non greasy. Pores are enlarged, fine lines fade, signs of tiredness are diminished and all other skin imperfections are visibly reduced. This translucent make-up base with smoothing effect will boost make-up wear.
I was a little concerned about the shine, cause I don’t like to have an oily nose ( or worst, a whole shining face) after a few hours and to be forced to use the ladies-room for a makeup retouch. No worries here, because it has an oil-free texture that will control the shine and also will fix the makeup for a longer lasting wear. You will find it very easy to blend and you’ll see that will sink fast into your skin giving a natural and perfect result. After you’ve applied a thin veil of La Base Pro and put on your foundation you will see that colors will last longer and will look more vibrant, so you don’t have to worry about a retouch in the next few hours. I have borrowed Lancome La Base Pro perfecting make up primer to one of my friends on her wedding day and the makeup lasted all day, without unexpected surprises. At the end of the day she was very happy with the result, she couldn’t believe that without any retouch her oily nose was under control and her makeup still looked fresh.
I definitely recommended it when are high temperatures outside because it makes your makeup stay in place and controls the oil areas of your face ( T zone).
In one word I love it: it has a very light texture so it feels light on my face, all imperfections are covered within seconds and my skin feels very smooths. I actually wear it a few times without applying foundation and it was great.
It’s also a good product to use for more adult ladies. I’ve tried it on my mom and her skin felt younger with 10 years ( my mom’s words). Her wrinkles were diminished and she liked it because was fast – absorbing, silky and with a flawless finish.
You can find it at Sephora for 42$, I know it may look a little expensive for some of you, but trust me these money are worth the investment.
I hope you enjoyed reading this review and let me know what you think about this product ( if you are using it how it works on your skin? ), or if you tried any other makeup primers let me know about the results in the comments bellow.

Oh awesome I am gonna try this one out!
Let me know if you like it…after you test it
You use it in the morning after cleansing your face? Or after you apply your usual hydrating lotion/cream?
Hi Carmen, I’m glad that you asked that, because I forgot to mention it in my review. I’m using it in 2 different styles. I don’t use foundation everyday so when that happens I apply the primer right after cleansing my face( make up removal and tonic lotion). Usually when I put my day cream on I apply the primer later (after I let the day cream sink into my skin). I think it will be ideal if you wake up, make your daily routine and apply your day cream and after a while apply your primer. Some girls like this Lancome La Base Pro so much that they don’t even use the foundation after.
That sounds great! I also prefer not to use foundation on a daily basis but I do like to have a perfect looking fresh face
Then you are the perfect reader of this blog. I try to convince women to have a natural makeup – not all the time of course, there are occasions when we need dramatic makeup – and wear foundation and powder rarely and better take good care of their skin rather then hiding it under makeup. Don’t forget to check out this week Giveaway and you can win one of the 4 Essence products.
How about SPF? Do you consider it a must on a daily basis?
There are some that sustain this idea and some that don’t aprove it because of it’s ingredients.
I prefer creams that have SPF, but if they don’t then I try to apply sun lotion (specially for face) before applying a day cream. I think SPF is essential especially in the summer. I can see the good results on my skin
. This summer I’ve been using Clinique Continuous Rescue Antioxidant Moisturizer and you can read all about it in my review.
I am SO behind in the makeup primer world- but I just tried a small sample of Smashbox primer the other day (i know it’s super famous)- but it really WAS as good as everyone says. My skin felt like silk all day… have you tried it before?
No, I haven’t used anything from Smashbox. I just bought today the Face Matifying Primer from Make Up Forever Professional and I can’t wait to see how good it is. I will return soon with a review. Thanks for your recommendation Baily, it’s always good to know about great products.
